Spring Soccer Updates - IMPORTANT

We hope you are all doing as best as can be expected in these unprecedented times, as the coronavirus response continues to affect all aspects of our daily lives. As many of you are aware, Governor Beshear announced that schools would continue to be closed through the spring semester. With that, we wanted to update you all on the status of BCYSA’s Spring Soccer and what can be expected moving forward.

1. We have not completely cancelled the Spring 2020 Season. The Staff is still working on a modified season plan that would entail play through the month of June, and relies upon reopening criteria that allows for youth sports, which we will not know for a few weeks.

2. On May 15th, the Staff will make a final determination to either cancel the Spring Season or continue with a modified season of play. If the season is cancelled, we will offer 3 different options:

a. 100% credit for the Fall 2020 Season, plus $15 off Spring 2021 registration
b. Partial refund of registration fees (more info about this below)
c. Donation of Spring Season fees to the league, with receipt for tax deduction

3. The amount refunded reflects what we are able to refund based on expenses we have already incurred on behalf of the Spring Season. These purchases occur as much as 60 days prior to the start of the season, and we have no way of recouping this money. As a non-profit that strives to keep costs as low as possible, we do not have any extra funds available to provide full refunds to all players. These costs include uniforms, jersey reimbursements, insurance, medals, coaching equipment, referee classes, and credit card fees that go above the $2.50 charged on the website, not to mention regular administration costs.

We will delay issuing refunds, for any reason, until June 1st, 2020. This will allow us to be as fair as possible to all our families. On that day, we will determine how many people have requested refunds, and all available capital will be divided evenly (per player) among those people.

4. We do appreciate everyone's understanding and patience while we work through this together. Once we make the final determination with respect to the Spring Season in mid-May, we will further communicate the next steps - we are hoping those steps include re-starting practices and getting schedules out to everyone. If it does end up that the season is cancelled, we will reach out and ask which of the options you would like to choose.
